Writing

 

Writing is the process of transmitting meaning to a reader.

To be able to spell correctly a person needs to be able to:

 

 

 

 

 

 

To be able to write effectively a person needs to have good language skills.

 

Kate Brown Speech, Language & Learning identifies areas of strength and weakness in the writing process at all levels and provides strategies and practices to achieve competency in writing.

• knows the purpose of their writing and who they are writing for

• can generate ideas for writing

• knows strategies for creating a piece of writing

• can spell correctly

• uses correct grammar and sentence structure

• uses correct punctuation

• uses vocabulary, phrases, sentences, paragraphs and structure

  effectively

• can proofread and edit their writing.

 

 

• segment words into sounds

• translate sounds into letters

• have knowledge of common letter patterns, prefixes and suffixes.
