About Us

 

Kate Brown has practised as a speech pathologist for 30 years, has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Speech Pathology (1984), a Masters of Arts in Human Communication Disorders (1992) and is a current Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia.

 

Kate has worked in all areas of speech pathology: community health, public hospitals, public and private primary and secondary schools, nursing homes, not-for-profit and government disability services, adult literacy services and private practice.

 

Her areas of expertise are in speech and language impairment, developmental and adult literacy, communication support for people with developmental disabilities and applied behavioural analysis for communication impairments.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Over the years Kate has presented papers on literacy interventions and speech and language impairment at national conferences in both Australia and New Zealand, developed intervention programmes for independent use in homes and schools and  been President of the NSW Private Practitioner’s Association.

 

Working in both rural and urban areas in NSW and New Zealand and in all sectors of speech pathology has given Kate a unique perspective on the needs of children and adults with communication and/or literacy difficulties and the needs of those people who support and work with them in achieving their goals.
